Today, Square Enix finally reveal Official PC system requirements for Forspoken, the upcoming action RPG from Luminous Productions (the team behind Final Fantasy XV).
We were expecting high requirements since it is only one of the first next-gen games (it will only be released on PlayStation 5 and PC), but these specs are higher than we thought, especially for NVIDIA users. The GeForce RTX 4080 is usually much more powerful than the AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT, but they are listed together as GPUs capable of rendering 4K @ 60 FPS at Ultra settings in Forspoken. The game is known to be AMD-optimized, of course, but even that shouldn’t be enough to outpace the RX 6800 XT RTX 4080. It’s unclear if that spec represents AMD’s FSR 2 upgrade technology, which will be available on all GPUs.
Even the CPU requirements are strong. To run Forspoken at Ultra 4K, Luminous Productions recommends one of the most powerful CPUs on the market, the Intel i7 12700. But the RAM requirements are perhaps the most striking. After the Returnal and Hogwarts Legacy announcements, it’s safe to say that 16GB will be the minimum spec going forward, while 32GB will be required to play well at UltraHD.
Less surprising is how much storage players will need to free up. 150 GB may sound like a lot, but it has become really popular in the last couple of years or so. Incidentally, during the full livestream (in Japanese), we also received confirmation that Ultrawide displays and DualSense controller features will be supported at launch.
