The Witcher 3 Next-Gen Extreme Graphics Mod goes even further than that; New Official Hotfix Out Now on PC

The free The Witcher 3 Next-Gen update launched last week on PC and next-gen PC, bringing vastly improved visuals over the vanilla version of CD Projekt RED’s masterpiece.

The PC version goes a step further, thanks to ray tracing effects (global lighting, shadows, ambient occlusion, and reflections) and an Ultra+ graphics preset. However, we always imagined that modders wouldn’t be satisfied for long, even with updated graphics, before making more tweaks.

In a few days we already have the first graphics mod that pushes The Witcher 3 Next-Gen beyond the developers’ vision. A NexusMods A100N user found additional parameters that work for all of the following settings:

  • Number of background characters +1 setting
  • Shadow quality +4 mode
  • Terrain quality +1 setting
  • Water quality +3 settings
  • Foliage field of view +2 position
  • Grass density +3 place
  • Texture quality +1 setting
  • Detail level +1 setting

As you can see in the video above, the result is quite impressive. Extreme settings mainly improve LOD, grid details, and foliage on the default version of The Witcher 3 Next-Gen. In addition, ray tracing effects such as reflections benefit from the enhanced range, enabling great sights on lakes and open waters.

Of course, this will make it more difficult for your PC to run the heavy new version of The Witcher 3. However, the creator of the mod has provided a DX11 file for those who want to forego ray tracing to improve performance. The installation is supposed to be pretty simple as well, requiring users to just paste the “BIN” folder into the game’s home directory. If a double graphics list error occurs, delete the Graphics_ORG.xml or Graphicsdx11_ORG files and copy the original files.
