The Uncharted series is on; Naughty Dog will initially help development

A new report today revealed that The Uncharted reboot will be handling development of the next entry in the series by a studio other than Naughty Dog.

As posted on Theleak.co, two independent sources have revealed that the series created by Naughty Dog is being rebooted, and development will be handled by an unknown studio. The series creator will still be somewhat involved in the creation of the new entry in the series, with Naughty Dog initially assisting the new studio. Since the game’s development is still in the very early infancy stages, we won’t be hearing much about it for quite some time.

With that in mind, it’s no wonder we’re starting to hear about a new Uncharted title. According to two independent sources, Sony decided to reboot the series earlier this year before it was handed over to an unknown developer. However, Naughty Dog is expected to help the new team at first.

Theleak.co doesn’t have a proper track record when it comes to game leaks, but there may be some truth behind the Uncharted series reboot, as trusted insider Gaming insider Tom Henderson confirmed that he’s heard some rumblings about the series in the past but wasn’t able to confirm today’s report. As such, we need to take everything with a grain of salt until an official confirmation comes along.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and The Lost Legacy are the latest entries in the series, and both are available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC. The PC version is definitely the best way to enjoy Naughty Dog’s excellent action-adventure titles, as Alessio explained in his article:

Considering that the PS5 version asks users to choose between 4K @ 30FPS, 1440P @ 60FPS, and 1080p @ 120FPS, Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection PC is clearly the definitive version. In fact, there’s enough performance upside that ray tracing is a nice addition, though it might have been outside the scope of this port project.

Speaking of the visuals, both games can look great even several years after the original launch. This is mostly thanks to Naughty Dog’s stunning art, which is displayed prominently throughout cutscenes and dialogue, with state-of-the-art facial animation and lip-syncing. However, externals sometimes show a bit of their true age compared to newer titles.
