Marvel’s Midnight Suns was released earlier this month to very positive reviews. Wccftech’s, penned by Chris Wray, rated the game 8.5 out of 10 with the following summary:
Marvel’s Midnight Suns is a solid tactical RPG that sounds like something that wouldn’t be amiss in the MCU. It might feel a little bloated in some elements, but it’s a very solid game. The characterization is top notch, with some screenwriting and voice acting to back it up. Outside of the RPG aspects, combat is fun, engaging, and challenging – especially at higher difficulty levels. I had a lot of fun with the game, and continue to enjoy it, and I can only think that fans of the genre – and Marvel – will enjoy it as much as I do.
This is not to say that there are no problems with Marvel’s Midnight Suns, especially on PC. We’re referring to the usual: stuttering and lower-than-expected frame rates. However, the folks at Rock, Paper, and Shotgun seem to have found a solution: disabling 2K Launcher.
It’s not the easiest solution we’ve seen, but they do have a detailed guide on how to do it. To get started, head to Marvel’s Midnight Suns folder, then Binaries, and Win64. There, you’ll want to locate the MidnightSuns-Win64-Shipping.exe file, right-click it, and choose the “Copy as path” option. The next step is to go back to your Steam library, select Marvel’s Midnight Suns, then Properties and General, and paste the copied path into the launch options. Now, at the end of this path, add a space and %command%.
The next time you launch Marvel’s Midnight Suns, you should open the game without going through the 2K Launcher. Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a similar solution if you got the game via the Epic Games Store. Let us know in the comments if this fix improves your experience.
