You probably know that Facebook polls are easy to post and incredibly engaging. Instagram launched voting in October 2017 and it was an instant success. Twitter polls are also very popular, with both interesting and serious topics. Why are polls so popular on social media?
People love to answer questions and make hasty decisions. They love expressing their opinion, especially when there’s a quick and easy way to do it. Taking polls is a fun way to get in touch with your followers. It also helps you attract new clients. Some polls start a conversation, while others just give people an interesting question to think about.
But if Snapchat is your primary social media presence, you’ll be happy to know that the app has finally added an easy and effective way to gather your Snapchat friends’ opinions on any topic!
Vote on Snapchat Stories
Until September 2020, Snapchat users had to rely on third-party mobile apps and browser apps to create polls that they could then link to their friends. Thankfully, Snapchat has finally introduced an easy way to create polls directly in the app using the stickers feature. If you’d like to create a poll to add to your Snapchat story, just follow these steps:
- open your Snapchat app.
- anyone take either upload a photo (Even if it’s just a black screen.)
- click “sticker” button on the right side of the screen.
- choose “vote” near the top.
- Enter the text portion of the poll; make it a question!
- tap “my story” near the bottom.
Your vote will be posted directly to your story for all your Snapchat friends to see! As with all stories, polls will only last for 24 hours, after which your friends will no longer be able to see it.
Send a poll to a selected group of people
Maybe you don’t want your entire Snapchat friends list to be able to answer your polls. If so, it might not be the best idea to post it to your stories. Instead, consider sending it to a handful of people. To do this, just follow these steps:
- open your Snapchat app.
- anyone take either upload a photo (Even if it’s just a black screen.)
- click “sticker” button on the right side of the screen.
- choose “vote” near the top.
- Enter the text portion of the poll; make it a question!
- tap “send” Near the bottom right corner and select the friends you want to receive votes from.
This is where your polls will be targeted only to the desired group of people, not your entire friends list. This can be helpful if you want to ask about a more sensitive or private topic; maybe you’re planning a surprise party for a friend and don’t want them to know about it!
wrap up
Social media is always being updated with more customization and interaction tools for users, and Snapchat is no exception. While they may not be the first to adopt new features, Snapchat is ultimately leaning toward rolling out its own versions of popular features from other social media networks. Polls are very popular elsewhere because they allow content creators to encourage their followers to participate.
