Gigabyte Achieves Stunning DDR5-11136 OC Memory, Speeds Over 11Gb/s On Z790 AORUS Tachyon

Extreme overclockers are already taking all the power out of DDR5 memory as Gigabyte has just reached OC speeds of over 11,000MBps.

The battle for the highest memory overclocking on the Intel Z790 platform hasn’t stopped yet. We thought we’d seen it all with the previous record posted on the ASUS ROG Z790 APEX motherboard, but it looks like Gigabyte’s in-house overclocker, HiCookie from Taiwan, has a few surprises up its sleeve.

Z790 AORUS Tachyon motherboard is used which has a dual DIMM design and is specially designed for extreme memory and CPU overclocking. The motherboard is paired with an Intel Core i9-13900K Raptor Lake CPU but the most important part is the memory which includes a pair of Gigabyte AORUS DDR5-8333 modules and the specific serial number is “ARS32G83D5”. These are some of the best memory suites one can get.

To achieve this specific DDR5 memory overclock, the overclocker used LN2 cooling and pushed one DDR5 memory module to DDR5-11136 (5567.5 effective hours). That’s over 11 Gb/s of raw bandwidth and the CAS timings are set to 64-127-127-127-127-2. No word on if stock voltages were used or if the memory was bumped up a bit, the latter seems more likely, but that’s certainly a big deal for the Gigabyte team. It looks like we’re approaching maximum DDR5-12600 speeds for the DDR5 standard very soon with these extreme overclocking results. One can even find DDR5 memory kits with transfer rates up to 8000/9000Mbps in the consumer segment, but they come at a higher price and will eventually come down as the standard matures and becomes more widely adopted which should be relatively soon thanks to AMD’s and Intel’s newer pushes.
