Galaxy S22 Ultra crowned as the best large phone of 2022

I’ve been a loyal Samsung user since the Galaxy S7 series came out, and since then, I’ve refused to look back. Sure, there was a time when I fell in love with the OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition, but that love lasted a week, and I was back with the Galaxy S10+. It’s safe to say Samsung’s formula has mostly worked, and the Galaxy S22 Ultra is solid evidence of that.

Galaxy S22 Ultra wins Best Large Phone, Pixel 7 leads with three wins and iPhone 4 Pro wins Best Camera

I’ve never been one to wait for the awards to come out to decide which phone I should pick. Just like loyal iPhone users, I will pre-order the Galaxy flagship and eagerly await the device, and for the most part, it came out exactly as I expected it to. I’ve been using the Galaxy S22 Ultra since it was introduced earlier this year, and my eyes are ready for the Galaxy S23 Ultra announcement.

Now, the popular YouTuber MKBHD has announced his 2022 Smartphone Awards, and while I was hoping the Galaxy S22 Ultra would win Phone of the Year or the MVP award, the award for Best Big Phone makes sense. You can take a look at the full video below.

At 6.8 inches, the Galaxy S22 Ultra is a really big phone. The phone would have felt lighter in hand were it not for the aluminum and glass combination. However, this is not the case, it is big and heavy, even for my hand, and I thoroughly enjoy the experience. However, the best thing is that the phone isn’t big for the sake of being big. All space is cleverly used for one thing or another. You’ve got a massive 5,000mAh battery, a built-in S Pen, and a gorgeous, massive OLED panel on the front. The phone feels premium in hand from the moment you pick it up and commands attention.

MKBHD has also announced other winners other than the Galaxy S22 Ultra, and you can check out the list below.

  • Best Small Phone – ASUS Zenphone 9
  • Best camera system – Apple iPhone 14 Pro
  • Best battery phone – ASUS ROG Phone 6
  • Best Design Phone – None Phone 1
  • Best value phone – Google Pixel 7
  • Biggest Bust – OnePlus 10T
  • Most Valuable Phone – Google Pixel 7
  • The most advanced phone – Google Pixel 7

For the most part, I agree with the list. Almost every phone on the list deserves to be there. The Pixel 7 manages to top the list with three wins, and for all the right reasons, with the iPhone 14 Pro winning for best camera system.

Let us know what you think of these smartphone awards and whether the Galaxy S22 Ultra deserves to be on the list.
