press release: On January 3rd, NVIDIA and Intel launched the latest generation of processors and graphics cards for laptops. Although the sales launch is not scheduled until February, taking into account the embargo imposed on the two companies, we would already like to provide an overview of the XMG laptops with 13th generation Intel Core CPUs and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 graphics cards that can be expected in the very near future . Announcements with full details on each individual model series will follow in separate news and closer to the actual time of availability.

configurations and schedule

The following chart shows XMG’s scheduled product launches between Q1 and Q2 in 2023. The first wave of new products includes FOCUS, PRO, NEO and ULTRA series laptops. Our overview compares key specs (processor, graphics) of last year’s models with those of the new generation 2023 laptop, which will be based across the board on the Intel Core i9-13900HX and feature G-SYNC and NVIDIA Advanced Optimus displays.

13th Generation Intel Core HX CPUs feature a significant performance boost over H-series processors – this is a substantial improvement over 12th Generation Intel Core processors, where the performance difference between the two models was much smaller. Featuring 24 cores, 32 threads, and 36MB cache, the Core i9-13900HX is much faster at moderately higher power limits than the Core i9-13900H or i7-13700H with only 14 cores, 20 threads, and 24MB cache. .

XMG focus

While the XMG FOCUS laptops were previously our entry-level series for gamers, the next-gen versions of the FOCUS 15, FOCUS 16, and FOCUS 17 step up into the high-performance mid-range: Intel Core i7-12700H (14 cores, 20 threads). ) with the new Core i9-13900HX (24 cores, 32 threads). The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, the most powerful graphics card that these laptops can configure to date, has been replaced by the new RTX 4070. In addition, RTX 4060 and RTX 4050 are also available. In line with the significantly higher maximum performance, the FOCUS series is equipped with a more powerful cooling system.

The XMG PRO 15 and PRO 17 will continue to benefit from the already familiar and well-established laptop chassis in the next generation. New features include an Intel Core i9-13900HX processor and up to NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4070 graphics, which require a more powerful cooling system: although the 2022 generation used graphics cards up to the RTX 3080 Ti, it did so at lower graphics power (watts). ). On the other hand, the RTX 4070 will be able to call its max power of 140W permanently. In addition, PRO laptops are also available with GeForce RTX 4060 or 4050.

While the XMG NEO 16 is a completely new design in 16-inch format, the upcoming NEO 17 is an update to the already popular previous model. Both laptops pair Intel’s Core i9-13900HX with high-end graphics cards up to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090. A standout feature is the very powerful air-cooling system: this allows even the main graphics card to run permanently at 175W graphics. In addition, the NEO laptops are compatible with the optional XMG OASIS external liquid cooling system and feature a full-HD WQXGA IPS display in 16:10 format with 240Hz. More information about NEO 16 and NEO 17 will follow upon the official product launch in a few days.
