At the 2022 Game Awards, Activision Blizzard revealed Crash Team Rumble, a new team-based multiplayer game, set for release next year on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Xbox Series S | X and Xbox One. It is being developed by Toys for Bob, the same studio that made Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy, Spyro Reignited Trilogy, and Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. For a while, fans feared being forced into action on Call of Duty, but now that seems to have changed.
Paul Yan, co-studio head of Toys For Bob, said:
We’re super excited to unveil our new take on multiplayer in the Crash universe with Crash Team Rumble. Crash Team Rumble has something for everyone – easy pick-up-and-play for those who just want to jump in, while offering skilled players the chance to take advantage of and master their heroes’ unique abilities.
Here’s what you can expect to do to crush (pun intended) your enemies in this upcoming title.
In Crash Team Rumble, fans can play as Crash, Dingodile, and a host of other friends and foes, each with their own distinct strength, personality, and playstyle, as they compete across wild and diverse arenas in 4v4 team-based online multiplayer action. To lead their team to victory, players will slide, smash, bump and slam as a team to be the “fur” to harvest the most wumpa fruit in the drop zone, while simultaneously defending the opposing team’s landing zone. Featuring cross-platform gameplay, Crash Team Rumble will feature many strategic gameplay elements that are sure to turn the tide of scoring in hilarious ways.
Unfortunately, the PC version seems to still be out of the party, just like Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled (even though that game was developed by Beenox). For some reason, Crash multiplayer is a no-brainer for PC players.
