Bungie is hiring former Valorant game director Joe Ziegler

Former Valorant game director Joe Ziegler has joined Destiny developer Bungie as Game Director.

Ziegler announce News via Twitter yesterday. Update: I’m excited to announce that my new home at Bungie has been working on new things that I hope you’ll all play one day.

No other details have been shared about the project Ziegler will be working on next. For more than eight years, Ziegler served as Director of Games at Riot Games. Last year, Ziegler announced that he was handing over the mantle to colleague Andy Ho to work on something new at Riot Games.

“It is with a heart full of gratitude and deep excitement that I bring you the news,” Ziegler wrote back in December of 2021. From dedicated and passionate developers who have worked tirelessly to serve you all with the respect and admiration you deserve, I relinquish the mantle of VALORANT tac-shooter game director to my dear friend, Andy Ho.”

The Game Director added: “Andy is someone I am proud to say has put many years of his life into VALORANT, and whose personal dedication to delivering it to the highest standards inspires everyone he works with. He has my full belief and confidence in him that he will continue to grow and evolve VALORANT year after year to become even better.” than I imagine. As for me, I’m going to start something new (*wink, secrets…) hoping we can even scratch the surface of the amazing impact VALORANT has already made so far.”

We do know that Bungie is working on a brand new IP, which could be a third person title using Destiny 2’s Tiger Engine. Whether Ziegler is involved with that project is unknown at this point. As always, we’ll keep you posted as soon as more information comes in on this.
