Today 24 Entertainment announced a batch of NARAKA: BLADEPOINT news at the NARAKA FEST 2022 event. The game is getting a NieR crossover, launching on Xbox One, a new hero and weapon, and more content for its PvE mode. Get the full lowdown below in the official overview provided by the developers.
New weapon: pole pillars
After the recent addition of the Shaolin-inspired NARAKA team, a new type of weapon is on the way. Looking to expand the game’s fighting arsenal even further, 24 Entertainment plans to introduce the Pole Staff in February 2023. Heavy, yet powerful, similar to the Chinese God of War, Guan Yu, Souljade can summon his legendary horse, Red Hare, ready for battle.
New Champion: Vera Shin
Equally fierce, we have our next confirmed playable hero with NARAKA: BLADEPOINT – Feria Shen. Proficient in combat as a weapons expert, she is also a popular mech racer. In the heat of battle, she can launch her Ultimate to summon Trouble, a mechanical companion armed with a pair of devastating Swarm Launchers, raining fire on her enemies. Feria Shen will be available in-game later this month on December 22nd.
New platform: Xbox One
24 Entertainment is working hard to bring this unique online action game to as many players as possible. During NARAKA FEST 2022, the studio officially announced the Xbox One version of the game, which will launch on December 22nd. It will appear on Xbox Game Pass alongside the Xbox Series X | version S, which was launched earlier this year.
New content: Show Chapter 3
New players can join NARAKA veterans in the game’s ongoing cooperative PvE mode. THE THIRD SHOWDOWN CHAPTER ARRIVES JANUARY 2023, so team up and get ready to take on the mountainous Yushan Ruins, where only Viper Ning’s mother will fight.
New crossovers: NieR Replicant and NieR Automata
NARAKA: BLADEPOINT will soon crossover with the legendary NieR action game series. 24 Entertainment is proud to announce an upcoming collaboration with Square Enix as it transitions the twisty world of Yoko Taro into the popular multiplayer title. During this crossover event, expect exclusive new content inspired by characters and weapons from the NieR universe. We plan to share more details about this collaboration with fans in the future.
As a reminder, NARAKA: BLADEPOINT was launched in August 2021. In a Wccftech review, Francesco praised it for excelling in the Battle Royale genre.
With excellent combat and traversal mechanics and a unique atmosphere, Naraka: Bladepoint stands out from the battle royale crowd. However, the cluttered interface, controls that require some tweaking, poor implementation of microtransactions, and general lack of content hurt the experience a bit, preventing it from becoming a must-have for fans of the genre. The foundation is still very solid, so with the right support, Naraka: Bladepoint certainly has a chance to rival all of the most popular battle royale games on the market.
The game became a best-selling game on Steam ahead of its launch on mobile platforms earlier this year. NARAKA: BLADEPOINT is also one of several titles listed to support DLSS 3, and the developers have told us they’ll be adding ray tracing as well. Currently though, there is no word on when either of them will be added to the game.
