So, we have some news on the Mario Strikers: Battle League front. Unfortunately, this may be the last free update the game will get. This is the third free major update that brings characters like Birdo, Bowser Jr., and more. to battle while adding new equipment and a new stadium.
Nintendo of America’s tweet announcing this upcoming release can be seen below:

Bowser Jr. A well-balanced player, while Birdo is more focused on offense. Shellfish Gear allows you to improve your speed and technique stats. You can still customize the new characters to suit your needs as you play on the Urban Rooftop, which takes place in a futuristic city. The Urban Rooftop stage has three different themes, but two of them are locked.
Now, we are announcing that this may be the last free update in Mario Strikers: Battle League due to a tweet posted by the same company in the UK. According to Nintendo UKThis third wave of content will be the last. Meaning, there are no new free updates that will be released for this game after this game. Now, this could mean that the game may get a paid DLC pack down the road, but it will probably be kept as is.
Unfortunately, this looks like it’s going to be a very lackluster finale for Mario Strikers: Battle League. However, we could still see new characters coming to the game. After all, there are still some character slots left in the game files indicating upcoming character reveal. I won’t hold my breath until any new characters are brought in, or at least not for free.
However, we will report any new updates to the game as they become available. Make sure to keep an eye on them. Mario Strikers: Battle League is currently available exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
