Apex Legends’ next character ballistic leaks, classes are said to be getting a major rework

The next season for Apex Legends is still several weeks away, but thanks to the always active Apex leak scene, we already have a good idea of what Respawn and Respawn Vancouver are preparing in early 2023. Interestingly, according to leakers, including authoritative Thordon Smash, The upcoming Season 16 of Apex Legends wont It includes a new Legend for the first time ever, but instead, it will focus on a major rework of the game’s class system. The next new Legend, reportedly named “Ballistic,” will instead arrive in Season 17.

So, what do we know about ballistic? Well, according to information from YouTuber PWN Hub and Twitch streamer NightTerras, Ballistic is an “arms dealer” akin to Walter White. As for his abilities, it seems that he can outsmart allies and outsmart opponents. His Ultimate will temporarily give allies unlimited ammo, faster reloads, and more, while his tactical style allows him to fire a “smart bullet” that will cause an opponent’s gun to overheat and backfire, inflicting damage on them. Both abilities sound pretty useful, if not particularly flashy.

Here is a summary of Ballistic’s claimed capabilities…

  • Weapon Sling – A sling where you can store a third weapon. The sling gun cannot take attachments.

  • Smart Bullet – Fires a projectile that shoots the enemy. Enemy guns will start to heat up when they fire. High temperature will cause reaction and cause damage. Tactical pressure will allow you to lock in on target.

  • Weapon Enhancer – When activated, nearby team members get a performance boost perk. It offers faster reloads, unarmed movement speed, and infinite ammo. Ballistic Sling weapon will be equipped and upgraded to gold.

Meanwhile, a Reddit post from user NC Pitts provides some details on the upcoming midterm rework that is said to be coming next season.

The Attack class will get red chests and extra ammo stocks (I’m thinking 80 per stack).

Defense Legends (Caustic, Rampart, Wattson, Catalyst) are now Control Legends. The Control class is for keeping regions/locking shit.

Newcastle f [Gibraltar] Now in the Support category. They benefit the team and keep them alive/quickly back in the fight.

The recon class still seems to be the same.

The skirmish class appears to be the “hopping” or “hit and run” type class. These Legends will be action-packed, solo PvP powerhouses (Mirage and Wraith being good examples). Pathfinder will probably have to be reworked for this and maybe even Mirage.”

If you’re having a hard time keeping everything in perspective, here’s a breakdown of how your Apex roster will most likely be organized after the rework.

Apex Legends can be played on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5 and Switch. A separate version of the game on a different update schedule is also available on mobile. The current season of Apex Legends ends on February 14th, so expect Season 16 to launch shortly thereafter. Season 17 will presumably follow about three months after that.
