AMD will allegedly show off its next generation Zen 4 3D V-Cache CPU, Ryzen 7 7800X3D and gaming performance at CES Keynote.
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D allegedly planned to be revealed later today, 8 cores and up to 30% faster gaming performance
leaky Moore’s Law is deadThe technology outlet claims that AMD is preparing its next generation 3D V-Cache CPU, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D. This new CPU will use Zen 4 core architecture but adopt advanced 3D V-Cache design to stack additional cache for faster gaming performance. It looks like the new processor may just be an “Ultimate Gaming” chip when it launches.

Based on the naming, the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D should have 8 cores and 16 threads. The CPU will load 32MB of L3 cache on a single die inside the CCD but how much AMD cache is stacked on the chip remains unknown. The latest generation Ryzen 7 5800X3D has stacked an additional 64MB of L3 cache on top of the 32MB L3 cache inside the CCD. So if this stays the same, we’ll get up to 96MB of cache, albeit in hours faster.
A performance slide was also leaked by Moore’s Law is Dead which compares the Ryzen 7 7800X3D to the Ryzen 7 5800X3D in various games. These are clearly handpicked titles if the graphs are really taken from AMD. You can see anywhere from +21% and up to 30% gains on the Zen 3D portion. We can’t say what resolutions or settings these games were tested at, but lower resolutions and lower image quality have been used previously to showcase the performance benefits from 3D V-Cache, so it’s best to wait for official data and even wait for the final performance numbers.
One must also remember that as of now, the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D is among the best selling AM4 CPUs in the market. If AMD can really deliver a significant performance boost in games that too at a decent value, Zen 4 3D V-Cache parts might replace it as the new popular chip on the block.
AMD’s CES 2023 keynote starts in a few hours and we’ll know for sure if the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is on the red team’s schedule, but our sources indicated that the first 3D V-Cache Zen 4 Ryzen 7000 CPU will be revealed at CES 2023. With retail availability approximately February 2023.
