NVIDIA’s upcoming GeForce RTX 4080 Laptop GPU specs and benchmarks have leaked inside the Geekbench 5 database.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 laptop GPU is 20% faster than the leading Ampere Mobility GPU
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 laptop GPU spotted in ACER’s next-generation Predator ‘PH16-71’ laptop which features some high-end specs including a Core i9-13900HX Raptor Lake-HX CPU with 24 cores and 32 threads bonding. Equipped with 32GB of DDR5 memory, the laptop is a must-have high-end device designed for gamers.
As for the GPU, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Laptop GPU was no mystery as we have already confirmed it in the previous leak. The graphics chip features a total of 58 SMs of 7424 cores and a memory configuration including 12 GB GDDR6 running over a 192-bit interface. The GPU is an Ada AD104 design which is the same chip used by the upcoming GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Desktop graphics card but is a shortened version of it. In fact, the GeForce RTX 4080 laptop GPU comes with about 24% fewer cores than the desktop RTX 4080 graphics card. The GPU clocked up to 2010MHz during benchmark operation.

In terms of performance, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 laptop GPU has an impressive 20% jump in performance compared to the RTX 3080 Ti chip which is the fastest Ampere chip for laptops. Compared to NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 3080 Laptop GPU, the successor is about 29% faster which is decent but expect to see slightly better performance in the final revision. With that said, there is also the RTX 4090 which should take the top spot in the lineup and should be 30-40% faster than the RTX 3080 Ti.

According to the previous report, NVIDIA’s Ada GeForce RTX 40 mobile GPUs will offer up to 30% performance improvement over their predecessors while adding the latest features such as DLSS3 and improved ray tracing performance. According to the product roadmap, we’re seeing a lot of SKUs, which were announced in January, along with Intel’s upcoming Raptor Lake-H CPU series. This means that Intel will also announce the Raptor Lake-H mobile CPU series at CES and the NVIDIA RTX 40 / Raptor Lake-H laptops will be among the first on the market by the end of January / early February.
